Breaking: Dassa Giles Signs the WV Can’t Wait pledge.

“New Leadership for a Better Bluefield.” says Dassa Giles, who has announced her candidacy to be the District 3 Representative to the City of Bluefield West Virginia Board of Directors. 

Bluefield, W.Va. —  Dassa Giles plans to include citizen input to make a Better Bluefield.

Dassa grew up in McDowell County and is a graduate of Gary High School. She holds a Business Administration degree with a minor in accounting and finance. Her career and community service involvement has led to her serving and leading on many boards and commissions.  

37 years of Community Leadership

Dassa has served as a Mercer County Poll Worker, and she currently serves as the Chapter President of the Bluefield Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. As a result of her leadership, the Bluefield Alumnae Chapter has:

  • conducted voter registration drives
  • volunteered at the Union Mission
  • given scholarship to graduating high school students in both Mercer and McDowell Counties 
  • raised money for local students through their annual Red and White Ball
  • held countless events to benefit Bluefield families and communities. 

In June of 2020, the chapter partnered with community organizations to provide free COVID-19 tests to 432 Bluefield residents. Under Dassa’s leadership, the organization has recently partnered with local churches to administer more than 175 Moderna Vaccines.

Dassa was also instrumental in coordinating the efforts of the City of Gary, West Virginia during their water crisis in the summer of 2020. She continues to volunteer her time and talents as an advocate for the community in which she was born and raised.

Election Day is June 1st, 2021

Dassa is a leader with a servant heart. She is seeking the vote of District 3 residents.  She believes that her leadership with input from the residents will make a Better Bluefield. Vote Dassa Giles for District 3 Representative to the City of Bluefield West Virginia Board of Directors.
